I'm writing about the potential implications of the new GSE (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) credit scoring rules and the replacement of FICO with Vantage and FICO 10T credit scoring that use broader sets of data. What are the practical differences? Will a significant percentage of people who rent shift to buying, or is that an unrealistic concern due to house prices and mortgage rates? Is the WSJ editorial board's claim that defaults will rise a realistic one, or is there data to show the efficacy of the newer models with greater data inclusion?
